Senior Post ex-reporter Yuwadee dies at 71 | Bangkok Post: news

Yuwadee Tunyasiri posts for a photo shoot at the Government House in 2010. (Bangkok Post file photo)Retired Bangkok Post senior reporter Yuwadee Tunyasiri, one of the country's most familiar media figures, died early Friday from internal bleeding after she collapsed last week. She was familiar to two generations of citizens who saw her on TV in front of the press gaggle, and asking questions of prime ministers for 49 years. As the longest-serving reporter on the Government House beat, the Bangkok Post reporter saw 20 prime ministers come and go, from dictator Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn to the junta government led by Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha. After earning a journalism degree at Thammasat University, Yuwadee embarked on her reporting career with the now-defunct Bangkok World English-language newspaper in 1969.
